Air Fryer Cup Crumbles

There’s nothing better than filling the kitchen with the smell of bubbling fruit. Pies, puddings, crumbles — if it’s fruity and warm, I’m baking it.

This recipe is my go-to when I want something cozy but don’t feel like pulling out all the bakeware. It’s literally a crumble you can make in a mug — no pie dish, no mixer, no fuss. I made mine with plums (because I had a farm-fresh delivery on the bench calling my name), but this works beautifully with any seasonal fruit you have on hand.

The best part? You can make four individual crumbles at once, straight in the air fryer. It’s quick, easy, and guaranteed to bring that golden, nutty crumble topping you love.

Ingredients (Makes 4 individual crumbles)

For the Fruit

  • 15 ripe plums, sliced

  • 1 tbsp vanilla essence

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (skip if fruit is naturally sweet)

For the Crumble

  • ½ cup rolled oats

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ½ cup almond meal

  • ½ cup chopped nuts (hazelnuts work beautifully with plums)

Method

  1. Prep the fruit: Toss sliced plums with vanilla essence and brown sugar until coated.

  2. Make the crumble: In a bowl, rub together oats, butter, almond meal, and chopped nuts until you have a chunky, buttery mixture.

  3. Assemble: Divide the fruit between 4 heatproof mugs or ramekins. Spoon the crumble mixture evenly over the top.

  4. Air fry: Cook at 180°C for 15–20 minutes, or until the crumble is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling up the sides.

  5. Serve: Eat straight from the mug for the ultimate comfort dessert.

Elliot’s tips

  • Fruit swaps: Peaches, nectarines, berries, or even diced apples work just as well. Adjust sugar depending on the natural sweetness of your fruit.

  • Nut-free option: Swap nuts for extra oats or a handful of shredded coconut.

  • Serve it up: Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of thick cream — the heat from the crumble will make it melt just right.

  • Batch cooking tip: Assemble the mugs ahead of time, then air fry just before serving for a warm, freshly baked finish.
