This recipe is a brilliant starting point for endless variations. Dress them up or keep them simple—it’s up to you.
Ingredients
Makes approx. 6–8 mini donuts
1 cup Greek yogurt
1 cup self-raising flour
Optional Finishes
Melted butter (for brushing)
Caster sugar (for coating)
Melted chocolate (for dipping)
Method
1. Make the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and self-raising flour.
Mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms. If it feels too wet, add a light dusting of extra flour.
Turn out onto a floured surface and gently shape into a disc.
Use two round cutters (one large, one small) to cut out donut shapes. Re-roll any scraps gently.
2. Airfry the Donuts
Place the donut rings into your air fryer basket. No need to preheat.
Cook at 180°C for 8 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
Remove and let cool slightly.
3. Add the Toppings
While the donuts are still warm:
For a classic fairground feel: Brush with melted butter and toss in caster sugar.
For extra indulgence: Dip one side in melted chocolate and let set.
Top Tips
Flour makes the difference: Self-raising flour gives you the lift—don’t substitute with plain unless you add a raising agent.
Don't overwork the dough: Keep mixing to a minimum. Overmixing will make the donuts tough.
Airfryer space: Cook in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding. Donuts need a bit of space to rise and brown.
Customise it: Add cinnamon to the sugar, use flavoured yogurt, or drizzle with glaze—the base recipe is incredibly versatile.
Serve fresh: These are best eaten warm, straight from the air fryer, but you can reheat leftovers for 30 seconds to refresh.
If you’re short on time but still want something homemade and satisfying, this is the recipe for you. Ideal for weekend treats, after-school snacks, or an impromptu dessert with friends.
